Our Pasture: Amazing Grazing

They say you are what you eat, and this certainly applies to our Sussex Cattle. Our cows freely graze and roam pastures established over centuries, where they enjoy a balanced mixture of rye-grass (packed with natural sugars), sown with clover for extra protein – both marvellous for slowly developing rich, sweet meat.

We also grow Alfalfa to lock nitrogen in the soil naturally, allowing us to dispense with any need for chemical fertilisers, and our cattle share their land with native wildflowers, birds and insects, all of which thrive in fields that have long defined the very character of the Sussex countryside.
